Fighting Diabetes Through Nutrition

Understanding The Cause Of Diabetes

Energy comes from our cells. Glucose is the main source of where we get our energy from. It comes through starches and sugars. In the pancreas, insulin is produced by beta cells. Insulin acts like a key to open a doorway on the outside of your cell so glucose can enter. Glucose stays in the blood when there is not enough insulin produced or when the cell no longer recognizes the insulin key. Diabetes is the rise of glucose in the bloodstream. Blood sugar levels between 110-125 would be considered prediabetic and blood levels greater than 125 are considered diabetic. When the amount of insulin is not enough to lower the glucose levels, glucose remains high in the blood stream. This is known as type 2 diabetes. When the beta cells in the pancreas are damaged, this causes the body not to produce insulin at all. This is known as type 1 diabetes. Being overweight does not help at all. Extra body fat coats the cell which makes the pancreas work harder and harder. If this information was helpful, then please leave a comment below thanks.
